Q.
I thought stainless steel wouldn't rust, but it did.
A.
The cause of rust is due to the destruction of the surface film.Continued contact between different materials such as iron and aluminum.Continued exposure to salt or acid. These conditions lead to the formation of rust.
Here are some maintenance methods if rust has occurred:
- Boil citric acid (or vinegar) in a 10:1 ratio (hot water 10: citric acid 1) in the container and leave it for about an hour, then wash it well with a neutral detergent.
- Baking soda and ketchup are also effective. Ketchup, in particular, might seem surprising, but the organic acids in ketchup neutralize the oxidized rust, making it easier to clean. Please give it a try.
